The Diamond Creek Edendale Community Revegetation Project

The Friends of Edendale are seeking volunteers to participate in our second community planting day for this year.

The implementation of this exciting project focusses on the vital importance of the Diamond Creek as a wildlife corridor / bio link. This is a continuation of the revegetation project building on the planting done since 2022 under the generous support of Melbourne Water through their Planting4Platypus initiative and now with a grant from the Federal Government.

The Commonwealth Government funding support for the project over the next three years will enable us to continue revegetation to restore the riparian indigenous vegetation community and the opportunity to expand our revegetation to the steeper banks of the Diamond Creek to rehabilitate the potential for platypus habitat. We will also be able to develop signage that explains the project and the role it plays providing information on the flora and fauna and a range of activities that encourage active participation in learning about the environmental importance of waterways as wildlife corridors.

Please wear / bring along:

  • Long pants - not leggings - that come down to cover your ankles and the top of your footwear
  • Sturdy footwear and socks to cover ankles
  • Long sleeved shirt
  • Broad brimmed hat
  • Sunscreen

Booking is very useful to let us know that you are attending and helps us plan the extent of planting and also inform you of any changes or additional information important to the day.  Please book at We Teach Me.

But ‘drop ins’ are welcome to register and attend on the day too.

Please note that children must be accompanied by adults at all times.

We would love to see you there.
