Sheoak Shelter

The Sheoak Shelter is located at the north end of the farm, between the Cafe and the Plant Nursery with adjacent spill-out lawn space. The shelter is also close to the Eltham North Adventure Playground.

  • Size: Groups of 30-40 people.
  • Tables and chairs: Bench seating and two tables are available in the shelter.
  • Power: Yes.

Booking details

Booking times and set up/pack down

  • Shelters and lawns can only be booked on weekends
  • Shelter and lawn hire is by the hour, and there is a two-hour minimum hire for all spaces
  • Your booking includes set up and pack down, so please factor this into your booking time
  • A trolley is available to help you get your supplies to and from the car park. Please return the trolley to car park immediately after setting up
  • No vehicles can be taken onto the site beyond the carpark area

Catering and decorations

Catering and food

  • Bring your own party food and catering supplies, remembering to consider the environment and waste management in your party planning
  • Cafe Eden is available for catering
  • Party Kits (including reuseable plates, cups and decorations) may be available from the Party Kit Network
  • Food trucks are not permitted for private events
  • All shelters have tables and chairs suited to the capacity of the shelter
  • Power is available for your use in some shelters - see individual shelter listings below
  • No gas barbeques are allowed
  • Take any party waste home with you to sort into appropriate home recycling systems. 

Decorations

  • No balloons, piñatas or party poppers are allowed. Decorations such as reusable bunting and other paper decorations are welcome

Activities and entertainment

  • You are welcome to arrange your own entertainer to join you in your shelter, such as face painters or magicians
  • Other activities such as pony rides or bouncing castles are not permitted
  • If you are arranging an entertainer, please let us know prior to the day

Edendale-specific conditions

  • No balloons, piñatas, confetti or ball games allowed on site
  • All waste from an event should be removed from the site and disposed of in the hirers' household waste system. Edendale reserves the right to charge a waste bond as part of the booking process.
  • No gas BBQs or appliances to be brought on site.
  • No food trucks to be brought on site (festivals exempt)
  • No jumping castles to be brought on site.
  • High temperature days: Due to animal welfare, when temperature exceeds 30 degrees, additional activities may cease and access to animals may be restricted, as determined by the Animal Management Team. Any animal interactions such as Farm Tour Bags and Guinea Pig Visits cancelled due to high temperatures will be refunded in full.
  • Extreme weather: Bookings may be cancelled on days of extreme weather (heat, rain, wind).
  • Fire danger - Catastrophic: Bookings may be cancelled on a day when a CFA Catastrophic fire warning has been issued for the Edendale area.
  • Fire danger - Advice or Watch and Act: Edendale will be closed and all bookings cancelled when CFA 'Advice' or 'Watch and Act' warning has been issued for the Edendale area.
  • Bookings and activities cancelled due to Extreme weather or Fire Danger will be refunded in full.

Payment terms and refunds - shelter or lawn hire

  • 100% of venue hire cost and additions/fees such as public liability cover (if applicable) will be due on confirmation of booking.
  • Cancellation by customer on or before four days before booking date will result in a 100% refund of venue hire cost and additions/fees.
  • Cancellation by customer less than four days before booking date will result in a 0% refund of venue hire cost and 100% refund of additions/fees.

  • Decide upon your preferred space
  • Check availability and submit a booking request online
  • We will confirm your booking via email within three working days - this email will include your invoice, payable online with credit or debit card

Public liability insurance is included in the booking price. A form will be provided for you to complete and return.
