Youth Seed Planting for Homegrown Food

Learn three simple and effective ways to sow vegetable seeds, then take home your own tomato, zucchini and basil seedlings to nurture and later transplant for a delicious summer harvest. 

This practical, hands-on workshop will give you the confidence to grow healthy vegetables at home, whether you have a large garden, a small courtyard, or just a few pots on a balcony.

Please note this event is aimed at 12-17 year olds.

Workshop includes:

  • Hands-on seed sowing activities
  • Seeds, soil and all materials provided
  • A guided tour of Edendale's sustainable gardens
  • Take-home resources, including a seasonal planting guide and seed viability chart
  • Tips on saving your own seed, caring for seedlings and successful transplanting
  • Information on compost, worms, pests, beneficial insects and healthy soil
  • Your own sown vegetable seedlings to take home

No home vegetable garden is required. Your seedlings can be grown in pots, planter boxes, or shared with family and friends.
