We are very excited to be hosting one of the Home Harvest Seed Libraries at Edendale Farm. There are eight Home Harvest Seed Libraries around Nillumbik and Banyule and are a new community resources for the Home Harvest program.

The Home Harvest Seed Libraries operate under the concept of fair share and giving back. Take the seeds that you are interested in growing and leave some for others. If you are able, collect some seeds from your harvest and return them to the seed library network for someone else to grow.

Using the seed libraries is easy and works by the simple philosophy of:

  • Take – Visit any of the libraries and take the seeds you would like to grow
  • Grow – Grow the seeds at home and hopefully enjoy a bountiful harvest
  • Save – Save some seeds for next year from the healthiest plants and fruits
  • Share – Return some saved seeds to a Home Harvest Seed Library for the next person to grow

We have also added a Seed Library and Seed Saving page to the Sustainable Living tab of the Edendale website with lots of information about using the Seed Libraries and saving seeds.

Our Seed Library is in the Reception at Edendale Farm so come on down to check it out.  Feel free to take some seeds for your Autumn crop or maybe you have some to deposit and share.
