Love Food Hate Waste

Wednesday, 29 March 2017 | 06:30 PM to 08:30 PM

Learn to avoid food waste and use left overs more creatively in our Love Food Hate Waste cooking demonstrations and tips sessions with local chef Duang from Real Food Catering. So get creative, make the most of your leftovers and show them the love they deserve!

Did you know Victorians waste over 25% of the food they buy? Loving your leftovers is one of the easiest ways to reduce your food waste at home. And it can be fun and downright delicious too!

Only half of Victorians say they eat leftovers from last night's dinner (SV 2016). That means a whole lot of lovingly-prepared, nutritious and tasty food ending up in the bin. Not to mention the forgotten extra produce languishing in the back of fridges everywhere that often ends up as trash. All our leftovers add up – to 51,000 tonnes of food a year in fact! – and end up in landfill where they can produce greenhouse gases and contribute to climate change.
