Home Harvest Picnic

Connect, Grow, Eat, Enjoy – Home Harvest Picnic 2020

Experience the satisfaction of growing your own produce, and the pure pleasure of sharing and eating it with others! Home Harvest is a celebration of home grown produce and local food.

Join us as a grower and supply some home-grown produce for the wonderful Home Harvest Picnic, to be held on Sunday 1 March 2020 from 3.30 pm to 7pm at Edendale Community Environment Farm in Eltham.

In the week leading up to the Picnic, growers from the community supply home-grown produce, which is turned into a delicious picnic feast by trained cooks. These picnics will then be shared at the joyous community Home Harvest Picnic - a relaxing afternoon including community stalls, music, and family activities.

No matter your level of experience or how green your thumbs are, everyone is invited to take part and get growing!

Not a grower? You can still come along and enjoy the feast! Purchase a prepared picnic for $10 or BYO picnic and attend for free.

All growers and lovers of fresh, delicious food are invited to celebrate in the harvest and the joys of local food.

Get involved

Register as a Grower (free)

  • Register online to grow and supply produce for the Home Harvest Picnic
  • Spend the summer growing the produce
  • In the week leading up to the Picnic, donate some of your produce
  • Your registration counts as entry to the Home Harvest Picnic event, and a prepared picnic for you and up to three guests
  • Attend the event on 1 March and enjoy the afternoon!

Don’t panic!

Don’t let the fear of having a bad season in your garden put you off registering as a Grower. If, come Picnic time, you are unable to donate the amount of produce you planned, it will be OK and will be balanced out by the generous donations of growers who have a great season. And if you end up with no produce, there are other ways you can contribute to the Picnic such as with your time to help us set up and tidy away.

Harvest Month

As a grower, you will also receive exclusive details on workshops, food swaps and special events taking place as part of Harvest Month. The full program is being coordinated by Local Food Connect and will be available on the Local Food Connect website early 2020. For more information, advice, tips and tricks about growing your own produce, download the Home Harvest booklet.
